Oscilloscopes
An oscilloscope shows the voltage of a signal as a function of time, i.e. how the voltage of a signal varies over time. The oscilloscope is one of the most useful measuring instruments in an electronics lab, whether working with digital or analog electronics.
The oscilloscope often has two channels that can be displayed simultaneously. In this way, you can visually compare, for example, an input and an output signal with each other. More advanced oscilloscopes may have four or more channels.
Modern digital oscilloscopes also have a variety of built-in measurement functions, so that e.g. frequency, rise time, fall time, voltage etc. can be shown directly on the display together with the measurement curve.
Digital oscilloscopes often also have the option of FFT, which is a mathematical frequency analysis of a curve. In this way, the oscilloscope can also be used as a simple spectrum analyzer.
