Resettable fuses (PPTC) are electronic protection components used to limit current in the event of an overload or short circuit. PPTC stands for Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient. PPTCs are also known as polyswitches or resettable fuses.
A PPTC has low resistance during normal operation. If the current exceeds a certain level, the component heats up, causing its resistance to increase significantly. The high resistance limits the current to a low level, thereby protecting the circuit and its components.
