Tactile switches, also known as tact switches, are momentary switches that provide physical feedback - typically in the form of a click - when activated. This tactile response occurs when an internal metal dome collapses under pressure and returns to its original position once the pressure is released.
These switches are commonly used in applications where the user requires confirmation that a button press has been registered, such as in keyboards, remote controls, instrument panels, and medical equipment. They are available in various sizes, actuation forces (typically around 1.6 N), and configurations, including surface-mounted (SMT) and through-hole (THT) versions.
