Silver oxide - button cell

Silver oxide (SR) has a terminal voltage of 1.55 V. Has higher energy density compared to the alkaline variants. The cathode is made of silver oxide while the anode is made of zinc powder. Usually potassium hydroxide (KOH) is used as the electrolyte. Normal discharge current: 0.01 - 0.25 mA depending on the model. Silver oxide batteries are produced in two designs. A low load for a long time (low-drain) and for higher load for a shorter time (high-drain). The difference is that low-drain self-discharge is about 2% per year while high-drain is 5% per year. Therefore, you should choose low-drain for wristwatches or other equipment with low power consumption. Marking: SW = low drain, W = high drain. In the past, silver oxide batteries contained up to 0.2% mercury. Thanks to development and strict environmental regulations, the old batteries with added mercury are no longer on the market. 0% Hg has been a standard for a long time. Advantages: low self-discharge, smooth discharge curve and very leak-proof.
