Lithium - Li-Po

Lithium-polymer batteries (LiPo) are a type of lithium-ion battery in which the electrolyte is based on a polymer in gel form instead of a fully liquid electrolyte. They are often manufactured as pouch cells, which enables flexible form factors and low weight. The cathode material can be lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2), but other lithium-ion chemistries also exist, for example NMC. A typical LiPo cell has a nominal voltage of approximately 3.7 V and reaches full charge at approximately 4.2 V.
Charging should be performed using a controlled CC-CV method (Constant Current / Constant Voltage) according to the battery’s specifications. High energy density and low weight make LiPo suitable for applications where space and size are important. Incorrect use, such as overcharging or deep discharging, causes capacity loss or, in the worst case, thermal instability.
