Diodes

A diode is a semiconductor component that only allows current to flow in one direction. Hence a diode is also often referred to as a rectifier. The diode has two poles, anode and cathod. Current will only flow from anode to cathode.
There ara also some special types of diodes which may lead current in the back direction under certain circumstances.
