PIR Sensor (BS412) is a compact passive infrared motion sensor for projects where a low profile and easy integration are important. The sensor detects motion from people or animals by measuring changes in infrared radiation and is suitable for alarms, presence detection, and battery-powered systems. It is a standalone sensor with no need for additional electronics or external signal processing. The included Fresnel lens is optimized for approximately 5 meters range with about 120° coverage. The output is analog/digital depending on configuration, and the signal time can be adjusted with a resistor from about 2 seconds up to around one hour.
There are two variants of this PIR sensor:
- BL412 (41036070) has a larger sensing element and higher sensitivity
- BS412 (41036069) has a smaller sensing element and lower sensitivity to reduce the risk of false triggers
