Pimoroni NVMe Base is a PCIe expansion board for Raspberry Pi 5 that allows you to connect a fast NVMe SSD for storage and booting the operating system. The board mounts underneath the Raspberry Pi 5 and connects via a flexible PCIe cable.
NVMe Base supports M.2 NVMe SSDs in sizes from 2230 to 2280. It is particularly suitable for applications requiring fast storage and high I/O performance, such as file servers, NAS systems, media centers, and other storage-intensive applications.
The expansion board follows Raspberry Pi's PIP design guidelines and is designed to work with Raspberry Pi OS. It is also possible to boot the operating system directly from the NVMe drive. PCIe Gen 3 can be enabled for higher transfer speeds, but this mode is not officially supported by Raspberry Pi.
