Classic linear voltage regulator in DIP package. Low noise, excellent ripple rejection and stability. Can handle up to 40V input and can regulate a fixed output between 2 and 37V. An external pass element can be added for additional current. Built-in current regulation. This is a very capable regulator that can to pretty much anything in terms of voltage and current regulation. See the datasheet for examples of all the applications this wonderful regulator can do.

UA723 is equivalent to the now obsolete LM723.
