About SMA and RP-SMA:
SMA (SubMiniature version A) and RP-SMA (Reverse Polarity SMA) are two common types of coaxial connectors used in RF and antenna applications. The difference lies in the design of the center pin:
- SMA: male has a protruding pin, female has a socket
- RP-SMA: male has a socket, female has a protruding pin
Important to note:
WiFi routers are usually equipped with RP-SMA connectors. Always check carefully which connector type your equipment requires before purchase. Note that it is mechanically possible to screw an SMA and an RP-SMA together, but no electrical connection will be made.
