HC-SR501 is a PIR motion sensor for detecting people or animals through changes in infrared radiation. The module is easy to use; simply connect power, ground, and the output signal. The module features adjustable sensitivity and delay, as well as two selectable trigger modes. Sensitivity is adjusted using a potentiometer and provides a detection range of up to approximately 7 m. The delay can be adjusted between 5 and 300 s. A jumper allows the module to be configured for single or repeat triggering. In repeat trigger mode, the output remains high as long as motion continues to be detected, and the delay time is extended when new motion is detected.
