MOSFET Driver Board developed and manufactured Electrokit. Available with two (EKM013) or four (EKM014) channels. Supports up to 50 VDC at 10 A per channel.
The driver board features powerful MOSFET transistors for driving heavy loads. The transistors are controlled by the Texas Instruments UCC27524 gate driver, capable of switching on and off at high frequencies, suitable for e.g. PWM control.
The module has separate power supply inputs for the gate driver and the transistors. The driver supply (VL) can be powered with 4.5 to 12 VDC, while the transistors (VH) can handle up to 50 VDC. Control inputs support both 3.3 V and 5 V logic levels. Note that VH must be equal to or higher than VL.
The transistors are connected as low-side switches, breaking the negative pole of the connected load. This solution works with virtually all DC loads such as motors, solenoids, LED lamps, and other resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads. Note that this board is not a full H-bridge driver and cannot drive motors bidirectionally. Each channel is protected against back-EMF with high-power Schottky diodes capable of handling transients up to 100 V and 175 A.
The UCC27524 gate driver can supply sufficient current to charge the transistors extremely quickly. With a peak current of 5 A, it can switch the transistors on and off at frequencies up to 1 MHz. According to the datasheet, rise and fall times are 6 ns and 10 ns (typ.), with around 1ns matching between channels. The control inputs are hysteretic and pulled down to ground with 120 kOhm to ensure disturbance-free operation under all conditions.
The board provides space for mounting a large bulk capacitor between VH and GND. The capacitor is usually not required if the load is small and the power supply is connected with short leads.
The board is delivered with all components pre-assembled. The included screw terminals and pin header need to be soldered onto the board.
