SX1262 LoRaWAN / GNSS HAT from Waveshare is an expansion board for Raspberry Pi with support for LoRaWAN communication and an integrated GNSS function. GNSS enables positioning via GPS/BeiDou, making the module suitable for tracking and geographically distributed IoT systems.
The board is based on the SX1262 RF chip, offering high energy efficiency, long range, and strong interference immunity. In combination with a LoRa gateway, the system can connect to cloud services such as TTN to build scalable IoT solutions. The integrated GNSS module (L76K) supports both GPS and BeiDou and provides accurate positioning and timing data. Battery holder for a rechargeable coin cell (enables faster startup).
The board connects directly to the Raspberry Pi via the standard 40-pin GPIO header and communicates via UART. A built-in USB-to-UART converter simplifies connection to a computer or other control systems. Multiple operating modes are supported, including low-power mode with Wake-on-Radio, making the solution suitable for battery-powered applications.
LoRa modulation provides long range, typically up to approximately 5 km under favorable conditions, along with features such as automatic forwarding, signal monitoring, and remote configuration.
