Product description
Adafruit VCNL4030 is a combined proximity and ambient light sensor. The proximity sensor has a measurement range of 0–300 mm, while the ambient light sensor measures from 0.004 to 16768 lux. The sensor provides settings for integration time, dynamic range, and sensitivity. Longer integration times result in slower conversion but allow dimmer light to be measured with higher precision. Shorter integration times provide faster conversion and allow brighter light to be measured without saturating the sensor. For proximity measurements, the duty cycle and current of the built-in IR LED can also be configured. This makes it possible to balance conversion speed, measurement range, precision, and power consumption as required.
The module communicates via I²C and includes support circuitry for use with both 3.3 V and 5 V logic. The board is equipped with Qwiic connectors.
