Product description
Adafruit AS7343 is an advanced 14-channel light and color sensor that functions as a compact multispectral spectrometer. Unlike simpler RGB sensors, the AS7343 can measure light across multiple separate wavelength bands simultaneously, making it suitable for color analysis, spectral measurements, light characterization, and material identification. The sensor can analyze both reflected and emitted light and provides significantly more detailed information than the human eye can perceive.
The sensor contains 25 photodiodes covering 11 overlapping bands in the visible spectrum, one near-IR channel, one clear channel (without color filter), and one flicker detection channel. Measurement data is processed by an integrated 16-bit ADC and transferred digitally via I2C. Thanks to the integrated SMUX functionality, the sensor channels can be internally multiplexed to manage the large number of light detectors.
The board is equipped with Qwiic connectors and logic level shifting for both 3.3V and 5V systems, making it easy to connect to development boards such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or CircuitPython-compatible platforms. An onboard white LED can be used as a light source for reflective measurements and is controlled directly by the sensor’s internal LED driver.
Supplied with pin headers (not pre-soldered).
