Product description
APDS9999 is a compact 3-in-1 sensor that combines a proximity sensor, lux sensor, and RGB color sensor in a single module. The sensor can measure red, green, blue, and unfiltered light, as well as detect objects in front of the sensor using infrared proximity sensing. This makes the module suitable for automatic display control, smart lighting, color detection, touchless interfaces, and presence detection.
Communication is via I2C, making the module easy to use with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontroller systems. The board features built-in level shifting and a regulator for use with both 3.3V and 5V systems. Two Qwiic connectors enable quick solder-free connection in compatible systems. Pin headers are included (not pre-soldered) for connection to e.g. breadboards.
Thanks to the combination of color measurement, ambient light sensing, and proximity detection, the APDS9999 can replace multiple separate sensors in the same design while saving both space and wiring.
