Product description
MQ-5 semiconductor sensor for LPG and methane. The sensitive material in the MQ-5 gas sensor is SnO2, which has low electrical conductivity in clean air. When the target gas (a combustible gas) is present, the conductivity of the sensor increases in proportion to the gas concentration. A simple electronic circuit can be used to convert this change in conductivity into a corresponding output signal representing the gas concentration. MQ-5 has high sensitivity to LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) as well as town gas/biogas. Compared to MQ-6, MQ-5 has higher sensitivity to lighter hydrocarbons, such as methane.
The sensor can be mounted on a suitable breakout board 41004066.
