Fingerprint sensor AS608 is an optical fingerprint sensor that makes it easy to add biometric identification to projects. The sensor includes an internal DSP processor that handles image capture, feature extraction, and matching directly in the module, so the host system only needs to send simple commands via serial communication. It is commonly used in applications such as electronic locks, access control, safes, and other systems where secure identification is required.
The module connects via a TTL serial interface to a microcontroller or computer and can capture images, enroll fingerprints, and search for matches in internal memory. Supplied with a connection cable (8x dupont female) for easy connection to a breadboard or development board. Libraries for Arduino and CircuitPython are available along with tutorials to help you get started quickly.
The sensor can store up to 162 fingerprints in internal flash memory and supports enrollment and identification directly in the module, reducing the load on the microcontroller. It is designed for panel mounting and is suitable for both prototypes and finished products.
