SparkFun Cryptographic Co-Processor with ATECC608A. A compact security module designed to add hardware-based cryptography to embedded systems, IoT nodes, and edge devices. The module acts as a dedicated cryptographic accelerator, offloading the main processor during authentication, key management, and secure communication.
The ATECC608A chip supports both asymmetric and symmetric cryptography, including ECC-based key generation, AES-128 encryption, and SHA-256 hashing. The internal EEPROM enables secure storage of keys, certificates, and sensitive data, while access can be locked to prevent tampering. A built-in hardware-based random number generator ensures high-quality cryptographic operations.
The board is equipped with two Qwiic connectors for easy I2C connection without soldering, allowing fast integration into existing systems. For more flexible use, standard 2.54 mm connections are also available for breadboard or custom hardware (pin headers not included).
Note! The ATECC608A can only be configured once before it is permanently locked. We recommend that users purchase multiple boards to allow different configurations and to explore the advanced features of the ATECC608A.
