About SMA and RP-SMA:
SMA and RP-SMA (Reverse Polarity SMA) are two common types of coaxial connectors for RF and antenna applications. The difference is in the construction of the center pin:
- SMA male has a protruding pin - female has a receptacle
- RP-SMA male has a receptacle - female has a protruding pin
Important information about wifi routers:
WiFi routers are normally equipped with RP-SMA connectors. Therefore, carefully check which connector your equipment requires before purchasing an antenna or accessories. Please note that it is possible to join a SMA together with a RP-SMA mechanically, but there will be no electrical connection.
