Product description
The Adafruit Mini Sound Board is a small and convenient board that makes it easy to add sound effects to a project, whether it's a costume, an installation, or simply buttons that trigger sound playback. No programming is required — sound files are named according to a simple system and can be triggered in up to five different ways (play once, loop while the button is held down, loop until the button is pressed again, play a list of up to ten sound files sequentially, or play a list of up to ten sound files randomly).
The board connects to a computer via a microUSB cable and appears as a standard USB drive.
Sound files can be stereo or mono, in .WAV or .OGG formats, and the bitrate can be adjusted to save space or maximize quality (16-bit, 44.1kHz).
There are eight trigger connections — when one is pulled low, the corresponding sound file is played. Playback and volume control can also be managed via UART using, for example, an Arduino. The board operates on 3.3–5V, can be powered by a LiPo battery, and is compatible with Adafruit's LiPo Backpack.
