Small clickable trackball with built-in RGBW LED, allowing 2D navigation, multi-parameter control, mini-games, or ergonomic operation of an operating system, for example in a portable or handheld mini-computer. Perfect for projects with both Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
Pimoroni's Python library includes functions for controlling the LED and reading the trackball's movements. Combined with devices that can act as USB HID, it can also be used with standard computers.
The grippy surface makes the ball easy to operate and allows for upside-down use, like a traditional computer mouse, or as a support ball in a robot for logging movements and providing feedback to motor control.
The RGBW LED makes the unit particularly suitable for controlling LED strips, light tables, or DMX lighting, and allows the user to see the current color even if the lights are located in another room or on a stage.
