Module with a current sensor for AC and relay that energizes when a preset current is reached. Can be used as an over-current protection för mains connected devices.
The module can only measure AC, but works with both lower and higher voltages (eg. 12VAC or 230VAC).
The current carrying conductor that is to be measured is threaded through the transformer on the board. Please note that only one conductor should be measured. If both conductors are measured, the magnetic fields will cancel out.
To measure lower currents and make the sensor more sensitive, the conductor can be looped two or more times. Each turn will increase the sensitivity.
The threshold can be adjusted using the onboard trimmer potentiometer. With the object to be measured powered on and the current carrying conductor threaded through the transformer, turn the trimmer until the relay clicks.
The relay has a double-throw contact with connectors for normally open, common and normally closed. This enables the sensor to either power on or power off a device when the threshold is reached.
