Product description
Compact and portable 60W soldering iron. Powered by USB-C with power delivery (PD), 9-20V. Temperatures from 160-480° C. Automatic sleep mode with adjustable delay. Sleep mode ensures that the tip isn't heated for when unused, which minimises oxidisation and greatly extends the life of the tips. Sleep mode is interrupted as soon as you pick up the pen.
A discreet LED display shows the current temperature and menus for various settings. Changing the temperature is easily done with the + and - buttons.
The soldering iron uses a so-called active tip, which provides very fast heating. In Electrokit's test, it took about 7 seconds to reach 380° C from room temperature. Heating from sleep mode is even faster. Active tip also means that when heating large components or ground planes, the iron is faster to react and provide more heat, giving better results with less damage to the components.
Since the ZD-450 is powered by USB, it can be used with a power bank (one with PD and a large power outlet) for repairs without a mains connection, e.g. soldering in the car, boat, caravan or just outdoors.
The very compact design means that you can carry it in your laptop bag or backpack without noticing. The soldering stand and holder for brass wool are also very small, and the stand comes apart in no time. The total weight depends on the choice of adapter, but is low regardless.
Suitable for repairs and assembly on site also when there is a power outlet available.
Comes with stand, USB-C cable and brass wool in a holder.
