74AHCT125 is a quad level shifter. It enables correct and safe interfacing between logic devices operating at 3.3 V and 5 V signal levels by either stepping up 3.3 V logic signals to 5 V or, depending on how it is powered and used, adapting 5 V signals to 3.3 V logic levels.
When the circuit is powered at 5 V, it can detect 3 V input signals and provide corresponding 5 V levels at the outputs, which is useful when connecting 3.3 V microcontrollers to older 5 V devices. When operated at 3.3 V, it can in certain applications be used for level adaptation of 5 V signals to 3.3 V logic levels, provided that other electrical conditions are met.
It is commonly used in projects with platforms such as Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and Teensy where logic levels do not directly match those of the connected sensor or transducer.
