Product description
Cable locator and continuity tester to find out where cables go. The toner is connected to the cable you want to follow with an alligator clip or RJ-11 plug. The other unit (probe) picks up the sound from the toner even without being in direct contact. A speaker and LED on the probe show when it is close to the cable. The signal is heard more the closer the probe is to the cable. The sound volume (sensitivity) can be adjusted with a volume control. The signal is a tone that varies from 1.25-1.4 kHz six times per second.
The continuity tester tests continuity with 8V, and registers resistances up to approximately 10 kOhm as continuity. The LED shows approximate resistance by shining brighter at lower resistance.
Please note that the tester must not be connected to cables with alternating current or direct voltage over 60 V.
Can also test polarity and line functions in analog telephone systems.
Two 9V batteries are included, one for the probe and one for the toner.
