DIP switches
DIP switches are switches in DIP (DIL) packages. They consist of several separate switches, placed between every pair of pins.
These switches are intended for signal currents (max 24V, max 25mA) and should not be used to switch power supply lines.
They are intended for PCB mounting, and are often used for counting binary numbers. They fit perfectly in breadboards, providing a cheap option for switching during prototyping work.
