Product description
EKM032 is a step-up (boost) regulator for high-power LEDs, LED strips, and LED matrices. The module is developed and designed by Electrokit. It converts a low voltage (2.7V to 5.5V) into a higher voltage that is regulated to match the forward voltage of the connected LEDs.
Since the driver regulates the output to a constant current, any number of LEDs can be connected in series up to the maximum output voltage of 38V.
Please note that not all combinations of input voltage, output current, and number of LEDs are possible, since the regulator is limited by the input current. For example, 3V input, 20V output, and 200mA LED current results in more than 1.2A through the regulator switches, which exceeds the limit. Increasing the input voltage to 5V reduces the current through the regulator to approximately 800mA, which is within specification. See the table below for more information.
The driver IC includes protection against open load, undervoltage, and overtemperature.
Brightness can be controlled from 0–100% using PWM, and the drive current can be programmed using an external resistor connected between GND and FB.
