Product description

An advanced LCR meter from UNI-T, for precise measurement, testing and sorting of passive components. 0.1% accuracy, simple intuitive interface, and fast results.

Measures capacitors, resistors and inductors, with large measurement ranges: 0.00pF-99.999mF, 0.0000-9.9999 MOhm and 0.00uH-99.999H. All measurements are made with automatic setting of the measurement range (autorange). In addition to setting the range, it can also automatically identify components and set series/parallel mode as appropriate.

Instead of measuring components with DC voltage, LCR meters such as the UT622 series use a test signal with adjustable frequency. Where a multimeter measures parameters for a given voltage (DC), LCR meters measure parameters for alternating voltage (AC). This has several advantages. For example, it provides a more accurate measurement of capacitors, which are very frequency-dependent. It is also the only practical way to measure inductance. Measuring capacitors is also faster than with a multimeter (DC measurement), which measures the discharge time - for large values it can be a very long time.

Particularly reactive components - capacitors and inductances/chokes - are good to measure with AC, preferably with the frequency at which they will work. Large capacitors and chokes in line filters should, for example, be measured with low frequencies - the UT622 series can all be set to a 100Hz measurement frequency.

The measurement method not only means that the measurements are better, it also allows you to know more than just how much the device has a passive component. As is known, real components are not ideal - they have different imperfections and reactive effects, are frequency dependent, and have different "parasites", e.g. all resistors are inductive, and capacitors have a certain inherent resistance. Resistance is generally not affected by frequency, although resistors have small amounts of parasitic reactance. LCR meters such as the UT622 series will measure several of these properties.

The UT622 series can, in addition to the usual quantities (ohm, farad, henry), measure/calculate reactance (Z), equivalent series resistance (ESR), quality factor (Q - how close to ideal a reactive component is), - Theta (θ - phase shift) and D (dissipation factor).

With four-wire measurement (Kelvin measurement), UT622 can measure very low resistances accurately. This requires a set of Kelvin probes, included with UT622E and UT622C.

A recording mode can measure average, minimum and maximum values, as well as the number of measurements (for primary values - ohm/farad/henry). The UT622 can then automatically identify that a component is connected, wait until a correct measurement value is found, and save. Very good for verifying larger quantities of components.

The related tolerance mode can be used to sort components. The meter then shows the percentage deviation from a set value, and warns (with an led and optional sound) if a measurement falls outside the range. The UT622 will count the number of tested, approved and rejected components. An indispensable function in production where critical components need to be very near a particular value.

The UT622 series has a large (2.8") and clear high-resolution color display, which shows many measured values and settings simultaneously. The meter can also be connected to a computer and used with software from Uni-T.

Powered by a rechargeable LiPo battery with 1800mAh which provides many hours of use. Charged with a mini-USB cable.

Adjustable measurement frequency, voltage, update frequency (up to 20 measurements per second).

In addition to the meter, a calibration jumper, test probes and power adapter (mini USB, 5V 1A) are included.

Note that you should never measure charged capacitors or live circuits with the UT622 or other LCR meters!
