Is it really called a dupont connector?

What is often referred to as a ‘dupont connector’ does not follow any exact standard. However, this has become a well-used term and collective name for connectors with a pitch of 2.54 mm and pin/sleeve thickness of 0.64 mm.

Choose dupont connectors from the same manufacturer

Crimp terminals and connector housings from different manufacturers differ in appearance and fit. Therefore, for best fit and function, dupont connector housings and crimp terminals should be selected from the same manufacturer. For pre-wired dupont cable assemblies, this is not a problem, as the cable manufacturer ensures that the connector housing and crimp terminal fit together.
