Product description
Sodium persulphate - Effective etchant for printed circuit boards / copper laminates. Sodium persulfate is a white, crystalline powder used as an etchant in the manufacture of printed circuit boards (PCBs). It allows for a clean and controlled etching process, making it particularly suitable for prototyping and small-scale production.
Properties:
- Chemical formula: Na₂S₂O₈
- Application: Etching (removal) of unwanted copper from printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Solution: Water soluble; forms a clear solution
- Advantages: Odourless, provides good visual control during etching
- Storage (powder): Dry and cool, in well sealed packaging
- Storage (dissolved in water): Cool and dark in glass or plastic bottle (not PET)
Usage:
The etching powder is dissolved in hot water. Optimal temperature for etching is about 50 °C. Recommended dosage is 1.5-2 dl powder per litre of water (100g powder dissolved in 0.5l water). The UV exposed PCB is placed in the solution and agitated (gentle stirring) during the process. Unused etching liquid can be saved for later use in a glass or plastic bottle (not PET). Always use appropriate protective equipment, including protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
Safety and handling:
Sodium persulfate is oxidising. It may cause skin and eye irritation and allergic reactions if inhaled. Always use protective equipment when handling (protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection). Do not breathe dust and/or vapours. Keep the product out of reach of children and away from heat.
