Product description
Cable splitter for utilizing an existing network cable for two separate 100 Mbit/s connections. An Ethernet cable contains four wire pairs. Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) uses all four pairs, while 100BASE-TX uses only two. With a passive Ethernet splitter, a 4-pair cable can therefore carry two independent 100 Mbit/s links instead of a single gigabit link – for example, to connect a printer and an IoT device using the same cable.
Important to know:
The splitter must always be used in pairs – one at each end of the shared cable. It does not replace a switch and does not increase the number of switch ports. You need two free switch ports at one end to provide two ports at the other end. Each port will be limited to 100 Mbit/s (even if the switch supports gigabit). PoE is not supported. The cable splitter is sold individually; two units are required for a working setup.
