EKM044 is a switching voltage regulator that converts an input voltage of up to 48V (up to 80V with suitable protective measures) to a lower voltage. The output voltage can be set to either 3.3V or 5V by bridging the connections marked VSEL. With VSEL open, the regulator outputs 3.3V. When VSEL is bridged, the output voltage changes to 5V.
Thanks to its wide input voltage range, EKM044 can be used with, for example, 48V–60V battery packs. The input voltage must always be higher than the selected output voltage. For a 3.3V output, the minimum input voltage is approximately 3.8V. For a 5V output, the input voltage must be approximately 5.5–6V.
The regulator is internally protected against overload, short circuit and overtemperature. The module also adds reverse polarity protection on the input.
The module also has a "Power Good" output, which signals when the regulator is operating correctly, and an "Enable" input that can be used to switch the regulator on and off with an external signal.
