Product description
EK002 - Atari Punk Robot – Soldering kit from Electrokit. Build your own sound robot! The Atari Punk Robot is an educational and entertaining electronics kit based on the classic Atari Punk Console – originally designed by electronics pioneer Forrest Mims III.
The circuit is built around two 555 timer ICs that together generate pulsing tones. The sound is controlled by two light-dependent sensors and played through the built-in speaker, while the LEDs (eyes and nose) blink in sync. The light sensors make the robot respond to its surroundings – more light produces higher/faster tones, while less light results in lower/slower tones.
You can “play” the robot by shading the sensors with your hands, using flashing lights, or experimenting with different light sources. Other resistive sensors (e.g., temperature sensors, humidity sensors, or potentiometers) can also be used for alternative control methods.
This kit is well suited as both an educational experiment in electronics and a fun hobby project for curious makers.
