Product description
Compact USB interface that provides GPIO, I²C, and UART directly to your PC. Ideal for controlling circuits, reading sensors and buttons, or experimenting with Stemma QT and Qwiic-compatible boards from Adafruit and Sparkfun. Also compatible with Grove I²C boards using the appropriate adapter cable.
The MCP2221 works like a USB-to-serial adapter, but also includes GPIO and I²C functionality. GPIO features include a 10-bit ADC and a basic 5-bit DAC. The onboard 3.3 V regulator can power small sensor boards, and 5 V devices can draw power directly from USB.
The included header can be soldered for use with breadboards or for through-hole mounting on prototyping boards. Mounting holes allow secure installation in a chassis or enclosure.
Instead of using a microcontroller as an intermediary, your computer can communicate with devices directly.
