Four 8-bit ADCs and one DAC in an easy-to-use package with I2C interface (Qwiic). Based on the A/D-D/A converter PCF8591 from Nexperia, which is a simple converter of the type SAR (Succesive Approximation Register). A sampling frequency of 11.1kHz provides good time resolution for sensor data. 8 bits is enough for many analog sensors, voltage measurement, or for reading potentiometers and other user interfaces.
Suitable for expanding the number of analog inputs for microcontrollers like Adafruit, or for single board computers like Raspberry Pi, which lack an ADC.
Qwiic connectors provide smooth, solder-free connection of voltage and I2C with a cable. Two Qwiic connectors mean it can easily be connected in series with other Qwiic boards. Voltage and I2C are provided on a connector with 2.54 mm pin spacing for use with breadboards and prototyping. A pin header for this is included (not mounted).
Three address pins can be jumpered, which means you can fit eight PCF8591 onto the same I2C bus, and thus get 32 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs. The internal oscillator has broken out to an output, where an external oscillator can be input if desired.
