3-axis accelerometer with the LIS3DH IMU sensor. A compact Qwiic-compatible accelerometer for measuring motion, tilt, and vibration in three axes, plus a temperature sensor and three analog inputs. The board is based on the LIS3DH, a low-power capacitive MEMS accelerometer with 12-bit resolution and built-in functions for motion detection, orientation, and tap events. This makes it suitable for both prototypes and embedded systems.
An auxiliary ADC with three inputs and 10 bit resolution can be used with extranal sensors. The data is digitised and sent along with the accelerometer data. One of the inputs is shared with the temperature sensor, so can only be used when not measuring temperature. The voltages are expected to be between 0.8 and 1.6V, but the inputs will not be damaged by voltages outside this range (within the working voltage).
The module can be connected either via SPI or I2C. With the Qwiic connectors, the sensor can be connected without soldering, simplifying integration into sensor chains and development environments. All signals are also available via breakout header connections. The sensor offers multiple measurement ranges and operating modes, enabling optimization from low-power battery applications to more dynamic measurements. Built-in features such as free-fall detection, orientation recognition, and a FIFO buffer provide flexibility for data acquisition and event-based logic.
