Description
LM386 is a small audio amplifier in DIP-8 package. The gain is pre-programmed to 20x to reduce the number of required external components, but can be set with an external capacitor and resistor between pin 1 and 8. The gain can then be set to anything between 20x and 200x. The inputs are ground referenced while the output is self-centering around 1/2 the supply voltage. Typical current consumption is just 4mA, which makes LM386 an ideal choice for battery powered gadgets.
