    This USB powered Geiger Counter is equipped with an ATMega328 that can be programmed in circuit using one of the programmers below. Simply plug the unit into USB (make sure you have FTDI drivers installed), open a terminal program to the correct COM port at 9600bps, and you will see random bits being generated from the random background radiation. Each bit generated (an ASCII byte 0 or 1) represents an actual event in the tube in real-time, so the output can be used to deduce CPM or what ever units you need. Here at SparkFun, on average, we get about 25 counts a minute. Want proof? Check out the live Geiger Counter feed from SparkFun headquarters. While you're at it, why not check out the random number generating Geiger counter tutorial? Note: While the Geiger counter is powered and the switch is in the ON position, the board contains exposed high voltage components. In order to turn the unit off, you must flip the tube power switch to OFF while the USB cable is plugged in or while the board is still connected to your power supply. The reason being; when you move the switch into the OFF position, the high voltage lines are bled out through a resistor connected to ground, more information on this is in the tutorial. A project box or enclosure is suggested. Do not touch the end window of the Geiger tube and do not to touch any conductive region inside the area marked HIGH VOLTAGE when the Geiger tube is powered ON. An enclosure is not absolutely necessary, but if you choose not use an enclosure, remember to be extra careful with the end window and high voltage regions. The Geiger tube comes with a red boot to protect the end window during production, handling, and shipping. The boot should be removed if you need to detect alpha particles. However, you should still see activity from gamma and beta particles even with the boot on. This product is controlled for export by the United States. Sending it to other countries may still be possible, but will require additional information prior to shipment.     This board allows you to interface with your car's OBD-II bus. It provides you a serial interface using the ELM327 command set and supports all major OBD-II standards such as CAN and JBUS. The board also provides a footprint which mates directly to our FTDI Basic or a Bluetooth Mate. The DB9 connector mates with our DB9 to OBD-II cable listed below. On-Board Diagnostics, Second Generation (OBD-II) is a set of standards for implementing a computer based system to control emissions from vehicles. It was first introduced in the United States in 1994, and became a requirement on all 1996 and newer US vehicles. Other countries, including Canada, parts of the European Union, Japan, Australia, and Brazil adopted similar legislation. A large portion of the modern vehicle fleet supports OBD-II or one of its regional flavors. Among other things, OBD-II requires that each compliant vehicle be equipped with a standard diagnostic connector (DLC) and describes a standard way of communicating with the vehicles computer, also known as the ECU (Electronic Control Unit). A wealth of information can be obtained by tapping into the OBD bus, including the status of the malfunction indicator light (MIL), diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), inspection and maintenance (I/M) information, freeze frames, VIN, hundreds of real-time parameters, and more. STN1110 is an OBD to UART interpreter that can be used to convert messages between any of the OBD-II protocols currently in use, and UART.     OpenLog is an open source data logger. Simple to use, simple to change. We wanted to create a serial logger that just worked. Power this device up and send it serial commands. 'new' will create a new file. 'md' makes a directory. '?' brings up the list of commands. OpenLog doesn't do a lot, but it does log serial streams extremely well. Example: >new testfile.txt >append testfile.txt That's really it! You don't even have to send the Ctrl+z (ASCII 26) to complete the file. The buffer will store all received characters as they come in (a maximum of 511 bytes may be lost in the buffer if Ctrl+z is not received). You don't even need to create the file - you can do that on a computer using a microSD reader. Please see the notes at the beginning of main.c for more information. OpenLog firmware is open source and is based on Roland Riegel's FAT library. OpenLog currently supports FAT16 (upto 2GB microSD cards). We're working on FAT32 and would love your help!     The SparkFun OpenLog is an open source data logger that works over a simple serial connection and supports microSD cards up to 64GB. The OpenLog can store or log huge amounts of serial data and act as a black box of sorts to store all the serial data that your project generates, for scientific or debugging purposes. The SparkFun OpenLog runs off of an onboard ATmega328, running at 16MHz thanks to the onboard crystal.The OpenLog draws 6mA when recording a 512 byte buffer, but as that process takes a fraction of a second, the average current draw is closer to 5mA. Keep in mind though that if you are recording a constant data stream at 115200bps, you will approach that 6mA limit. All data logged by the OpenLog is stored on the microSD card that involve the features of 64MB to 64GB capacity and FAT16 or FAT32 file type. Note: The latest version of the firmware (included with this board) does not compile in Arduino 1.6.7. You will need to compile in 1.6.5.     How good is your multimeter really? Or maybe your analog converter needs a good reference? Or lets say you want to test your microcontroller's conversion accuracy & precision. If only you had a dependable, high precision, rock-solid voltage reference. Now you know why we made this very cute and useful little breakout board. It has two very high precision shunt-type voltage references with 750 ohm biasing resistors. One is 2.048V (great for 3.3V reference systems) and the other is 4.096 (great for 5V). Both are 0.1% accuracy! Using is easy, just power with about 5V-12V, or 3V if you want only the 2V reference to work. Then measure the voltage on the output. Note that these are not regulators - you can't power anything off the output. They are for measurements only. For more details, check the LM4040 Datasheet for more information.

    When you think about a piece of equipment like a mixed signal oscilloscope you usually think of, well, a piece of equipment. What you probably don't imagine is a DIP package. The XMEGA Xprotolab is exactly that: The first ever mixed signal oscilloscope, logic analyzer and arbitrary waveform generator in a DIP module. At only 1 x 1.6 inches, this oscilloscope can be plugged directly into a breadboard. The on-board graphic OLED matrix can display waveforms, measurements and menu systems. You can also connect it to your PC and use Gabotronics' XScopes software to control the device and view waveforms. The scope itself obviously allows simultaneous sampling of analog and digital signals but also has several advanced trigger modes, XY mode for plotting Lissajous patterns, phase differences or V/I curves, Spectrum Analyzer with different windowing options and even an arbitrary waveform generator with sweep on all parameters.
