    The MAX712 fast-charge Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries from a DC source at least 1.5V higher than the maximum battery voltage. 1 to 16 series cells can be charged at rates up to 4C. A voltage-slope detecting analog-to-digital converter, timer, and temperature window comparator determine charge completion. The MAX712 are powered by the DC source via an on-board +5V shunt regulator. They draw a maximum of 5uA from the battery when not charging. A low-side current-sense resistor allows the battery charge current to be regulated while still supplying power to the batterys load.     The Joystick module is similar to analog joysticks found in gamepads. It is made made by mounting two potentiometers at a 90 degrees angle. The potentiometers are connected to a short stick centered by springs. Output: This module will output roughly 2.5 volts from both outputs when in its resting position. Moving the stick will cause the outputs to change from 0v to 5v depending on its direction. If you connect this module to an Arduino through the Tinkerkit Shield, you can expect to read a value of roughly 512 in its resting position (expect small variations due to tiny imprecisions of the springs and mechanism) When you move the joystick you should see the values change from 0 to 1023 depending on its position.     The board comes pre-loaded with the SparkFun USB to Serial COM Port firmware. When the board plugs into a USB port, Windows will ask for a driver, point to the driver .inf file found below. The board should now enumerate as a 'SparkFun COM Port' and act the same as the SparkFun FTDI Basic. In other words, you can use it as a USB to serial bridge or you can use it to load code with Arduino. In addition, the pinout on the end of the board is the same as the FTDI Basic, which means you can plug it directly into boards like the Arduino Pro. In addition to the USB to serial firmware, the board also has Atmel's DFU bootloader installed. For information on how to use the bootloader, see the readme file here. You will need to first install Atmel's FLIP software. The bootloader allows you to load your code over USB. See the LUFA project for more example projects. There is also a selectable 3.3V/5V jumper to set the logic level and VCC voltage. Note: If using this board to load code with the Arduino IDE, be sure to select the 'Arduino Pro (5V, 16MHz) w/ATmega328' as the device.       JPEG Trigger
    The JPEG Trigger interfaces with the LinkSprite JPEG Color Camera to simplify picture taking. To take a picture, all you have to do is pull one of three digital pins to ground (D2, 3 or 4), or pull one of three analog pins to 5V (A0, 1 or 2). The on-board Arduino compatible ATmega328 is programmed to handle all the communication with the JPEG camera and the SD card. The default firmware requires that a FAT16 formatted microSD card be inserted into the microSD socket. After you turn the board on, the status LED will turn on signifying the board is ready to be triggered. If the LED starts blinking, the SD card failed to initialize and you should make sure it's been formatted correctly. Once the camera is triggered the board will capture a JPEG image and save it to the SD card. The file will be saved with a simple 3 digit number which is increment each time a picture is captured. While this happens, the status LED will start blinking. The camera can not be triggered again until the board finishes saving the current picture. After the JPEG Trigger has finished recording the image, the board will go back into the ready state and the status LED will go back to being solid. Each picture taken is saved as an individual 320x240 JPEG file. The files will actually carry the '.txt' extension, but they are actually JPEG encoded, simply change the file extension to '.jpg' in order to view them. Power on the JPEG Trigger is regulated to 3.3VDC, and the on-board JST connector allows you to power the board via one of our LiPo batteries. There is also a 6-pin header on board which mates with our FTDI Basic Breakout board for debugging or other purposes.
