Voltage reg. LDO

Voltage regulators deliver a fixed or adjustable voltage. They are widely used in electronics and used in nearly all applications. LDO (low dropout) regulators have a lower voltage drop between the input voltage and the output voltage.
NB. Voltage regulators are linear devices, meaning that all excess power is converted to heat, so a heatsink is often needed.
A basic rule is: Ptot = (Vin – Vut) * Iut
