Integrated circuits, or ICs, are circuits where certain logical or analog functions have been created by combining many transistors on a single die, resulting in a much more compact solution than one would get by using discrete transistors.

There are two main types of pagage for integrated circuits: through hole (DIP-) and surface mount (SO-). Most circuits are available in both kinds of package.

The LM2575 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all the active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator, capable of driving a 1A load with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, and an adjustable output version. Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use and include internal frequency compensation and a fixed-frequency oscillator. The LM2575 series offers a high-efficiency replacement for popular three-terminal linear regulators. It substantially reduces the size of the heat sink, and in many cases no heat sink is required. A standard series of inductors optimized for use with the LM2575 are available from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switch-mode power supplies. Other features include a guaranteed ±4% tolerance on output voltage within specified input voltages and output load conditions, and ±10% on the oscillator frequency. External shutdown is included, featuring 50 µA (typical) standby current. General Description The LP3852/LP3855 series of fast ultra low-dropout linear regulators operate from a +2.5V to +7.0V input supply. Wide range of preset output voltage options are available. These ultra low dropout linear regulators respond very quickly to step changes in load, which makes them suitable for low voltage microprocessor applications. The LP3852/LP3855 are developed on a CMOS process which allows low quiescent current operation independent of output load current. This CMOS process also allows the LP3852/LP3855 to operate under extremely low dropout conditions. Dropout Voltage: Ultra low dropout voltage; typically 24mV at 150mA load current and 240mV at 1.5A load current. Ground Pin Current: Typically 4mA at 1.5A load current. Shutdown Mode: Typically 10nA quiescent current when the shutdown pin is pulled low. Error Flag: Error flag goes low when the output voltage drops 10% below nominal value. SENSE: Sense pin improves regulation at remote loads. Precision Output Voltage: Multiple output voltage options are available ranging from 1.8V to 5.0V with a guaranteed accuracy of ±1.5% at room temperature, and ±3.0% over all conditions (varying line, load, and temperature).
