Kortet utvecklades av BBC för barn och ungdomar (11 till 12 år) och fick stort genomslag då det delades ut till över 1 miljon elever i brittiska skolor. Micro:bit används som stöd till undervisning inom programmering och digitalt skapande.

    This pre-built Edge Connector Breakout Board for the BBC micro:bit gives access to all the important pins on the bottom edge of the BBC micro:bit. Looking to do more with your BBC micro:bit? Unlock its potential with this pre-built version of our Edge Connector Breakout Board! This breakout board has been designed to offer an easy way to connect additional circuits and hardware to the pins on the edge of the BBC micro:bit. It provides access to all of the BBC micro:bit processor pins allowing a lot of extra functionality to be added. The datasheet (below) includes a helpful diagram explaining the function of every pin on the BBC micro:bit.   This Edge Connector Breakout Board for the BBC micro:bit gives access to all of the important pins on the bottom edge of the BBC micro:bit. 21 pins are broken out in total; providing additional I/O lines, direct access to buttons A and B, the LED matrix outputs and the I2C bus. Please refer to the datasheet below for more details.   The BBC micro:bit pins are broken out to a row of pin headers. These provide an easy way of connecting circuits using jumper wires. The SCL and SDA pins are separated at the edge of the board (solder pads) providing easy identification. The PCB includes a prototyping area with 3V, 0V and unconnected rows that can be soldered to. This allows the easy connection of switches, sensors and any pull-up or pull-down resistors etc. as required.   Note:   This product is supplied with Straight Double Row PCB Pin Headers already soldered to the breakout board.     The MI:power board for the BBC micro:bit brings real portability to your wearable projects. The stylish, lightweight PCB is designed to fit snugly against the BBC micro:bit and features a built in buzzer and 3V coin cell holder. When assembled, the MI:power board is connected directly to the 3V, GND and P0 connections on the micro:bit.     Love your micro:bit but wish it had a splash of colour? Well, with this nifty add-on you have 32 individually controllable RGB WS2812B (NeoPixel) LEDs in a well proportioned 4x8 grid. The WS2812B LEDs are also known as NeoPixels, which is Adafruits Trademark name for them. As such, they use the NeoPixel library in TouchDevelop etc. The micro:pixel comes fully assembled with an edge connector, simply plug your micro:bit in and get coding! We have a link in the Example Code Section to the code we have been using to play with them! By default the micro:pixel uses Pin0 as the LED data pin as this is the default value for the touch develop neopixel library. If you wish to use another pin in Micropython or Java then we have designed in a handy solder jumper on the board, simply cut the thin track using a craft knife and solder between the other pads this will enable pin 8 as the data pin for the LEDs and free up pin 0. WARNING: These little WS2812B Neopixel fellas can get VERY bright so we recommend running at a low brightness ONLY (we recommend 1/8th which is 32 out of 255 in your code). If you run the micro:pixel board at brightnesses higher than this, then you may well damage your micro:bit board as the pixels will try to pull more power than the micro:bit itself can handle. The micro:pixel board also has the micro:bits pins 0, 1 and 2 broken out along with 3v and ground which can accommodate a banana plug or croc clip Please note that at the time of publishing the microsoft block editor doesn't have a neopixel library, touch develop, code kingdoms JavaScript and Micropython however do. Please note, micro:bit is not included.
